"The views of Kanchenjunga right from the bed — I've never experienced anything like it. Hot geyser water, clean rooms, warm blankets. This is luxury in the lap of nature!"
"Hands down the best homestay I've stayed in across North Bengal. The family is incredibly welcoming, the food portions are generous and every dish is freshly made."
"We went in December and the clouds actually came inside the room! The experience of being literally inside a cloud while sipping darjeeling tea — surreal. The hosts arranged a perfect campfire too."
"My husband and I had our anniversary here. The hosts decorated our room with flowers and candles — what a lovely surprise! Every detail was taken care of. An experience to never forget."
"Great location, great people, great food. That's Megher Bari in three words. The trek to Neora Valley that they arranged was incredible. We spotted a Red Panda! This place is magical."
"The food here deserves a separate award. Aloo dum, dal tadka, hot rotis and that heavenly morning chai with Kanchenjunga in the background! Worth every rupee. Already planning the next trip."

Detailed Stories
We stayed for 5 nights in October. From the moment we arrived after the winding mountain drive, the hosts greeted us with hot ginger tea and fresh flowers. Our room on the upper floor had a sweeping panorama of the valleys and on clear mornings, the Kanchenjunga peak was visible in all its glory.
The food was exceptional — home-cooked North Bengali cuisine with fresh organic vegetables from their own garden. The campfire on our third night, surrounded by towering trees with a sky full of stars above us, was unforgettable. The hosts took us on a private dawn walk to Tiffin Dara and we spent an hour in silence just watching the colours change over the mountains.
If you're looking for a place that genuinely feels like home but gives you the Himalayas outside your window, Megher Bari is it.
I travel solo as a photographer and I spent 7 days in Rishop at Megher Bari specifically for landscape and wildlife photography. The homestay's proximity to Neora Valley National Park means you step out early and within minutes you're in dense birding territory.
The hosts were incredibly knowledgeable about local wildlife and arranged a guide for my Neora Valley trek. I photographed over 40 species of birds in my stay including the elusive Satyr Tragopan. The sunrise from Tiffin Dara gave me some of the best mountain shots of my career.
The rooms are clean, the internet was stable enough for uploading my work, and the hot water was always available early morning (important for cold dawn photography trips!). The homely atmosphere and the incredible hospitality made me feel truly at home in the mountains.
